CAPTAIN
By Gino

BNXN, the Nigerian Afrobeats star, just dropped his second album, ‘CAPTAIN.’ It’s got 16 tracks that take you through the ups and downs of his crazy success. He’s trying some stuff with his sound, but keeps the catchy melodies and real lyrics that made him famous.
‘CAPTAIN’ shows how much BNXN has grown as an artist. He’s mixing genres but stays true to his style. Tracks like ‘Cutesy’, ‘Totori’, and ‘Cough Syrup’ (with Victony) show he’s willing to try. The production is handled by some awesome people like Jiggy, Kel P, and Gemini Major. BNXN says the album’s title track is his favorite – he calls it “a bop” that he’s been playing every day since he made it.
BNXN told Rolling Stone that the album is all about development. Says he’s a big deal in the game, steering his own ship through good and bad times. He’s really feeling the title track; he says he made it last minute and can’t stop listening to it.
The album was much awaited, with hit singles like ‘Phenomena’, ‘Fi kan We Kan’ (with Rema), and ‘Very Soon’ (featuring FOLA) already racking up 185 million streams. He also got Seyi Vibes, Victony, FOLA, and the Soweto Gospel Choir on some tracks, which adds nice variety. BNXN’s main message is about staying in control when things get wild, which gives the album a solid theme.
As BNXN gets ready for his North American tour, ‘CAPTAIN’ proves how good he is now, and shows he’s just getting started. This album doesn’t just say BNXN is a top Afrobeats artist, it hints he’s going to keep rising.
